September 23, 2000 Despite a nationwide petrol crisis and torrential rain and flooding
the previous week, on the Big Day, the skies finally cleared and the sun
came out. Kate & Hamish finally tied the knot (after an impatient eight
year wait by their respective families!!) at Slindon Church. Sophie Bryan
sang Ave Maria (now a Dingemans family wedding staple) and Liz Knight performed
a charming rendition of Now We Are Two by A. A. Milne. The reception was
held at Bishop's Piece in the garden. In the speeches, Norman Dingemans
educated the audience about differences international wedding rites and
also espressed relief that Hamish had taken "Decision Making" courses at
Cranfield to help him finally pop the question. Hamish flattered the Bride
who looked beautiful, but then had the audience doubled over when he thanked
Norman and Patricia for all their incredible hard work, "without which
it would not have been possible." Dancing went on late into the night until
the happy couple exited on foot through an aisle of flaming torches and
vanished off down the lane.
